三国志で英語のお勉強43: 趙範・金旋・劉度

Wikipedia の三国志関連の記事を読んで英語・英単語の勉強をしていきます。韓玄に引き続き第43回は趙範・金旋・劉度です。

趙範（Zhao Fan，?年-?年）

Zhao Fan served as the Administrator of Guiyang Commandery (桂陽郡; around present-day Chenzhou, Hunan) around 208 and 209. In 209, the warlord Liu Bei led his forces to conquer the four commanderies in southern Jing Province: Wuling, Lingling, Changsha and Guiyang. The administrators of all four commanderies surrendered to him.

趙範は208年と209年頃に桂陽郡（湖南省郴州市）太守を務めました。209年，群雄の劉備が軍を率いて南荊州の四郡（武陵，零陵，長沙，桂陽）を征服しました。全四郡の太守は彼に降伏しました。

・地級市の郴州(ちんしゅう)市には桂陽県が残っています。郴州市は湖南省の東南にあります。

・「張」は Zhang，「趙」は Zhao ですね。

Liu Bei appointed his general Zhao Yun to replace Zhao Fan as the Administrator of Guiyang Commandery. Zhao Fan had a widowed elder sister-in-law, Lady Fan (樊氏), who was known for her beauty, and he wanted to arrange for a marriage between her and Zhao Yun. However, Zhao Yun declined, "I share the same family name as you. Your elder brother is also like an elder brother to me." There were some people who urged Zhao Yun to accept the marriage, but he said, "Zhao Fan was forced to surrender, so his intentions are unclear. They're so many other women in this world." Not long later, Zhao Fan escaped, and Zhao Yun was able to avoid any association with him because he did not agree to the marriage.

劉備は趙範に代えて趙雲を桂陽郡太守に任命しました。趙範には未亡人となった義理の姉，樊氏がいて，美人として知られていて，趙範は彼女と趙雲を結婚させたいと思いました。しかし趙雲は「私は貴方と同じ姓であり，貴方のお兄さんは私のお兄さんのようなものですから」と言って断り（decline）ました。趙雲に結婚を受けるよう促す人もいましたが，趙雲は「趙範は降伏を強いられたのだから，彼の意図は不明だ。この世には女性がたくさんいる」と言いました。間もなく趙範は逃亡しましたが，趙雲は結婚を受け入れなかったことで彼と関係を持たずに済みました。

・decline は「丁重に断る」というニュアンスです。「衰える，減少する，傾く」の意味もあります。

・『三国志演義』での趙雲の断り方はそれほど大差ないので割愛します。なお演義では鮑隆（鮑龍），陳応という架空の配下がおり，趙雲を暗殺しようとして失敗し，殺されます。

金旋（Jin Xuan，金元機，Jin Yuanji，?年-209年?）

Jin Xuan was a descendant of Jin Midi and was from Jingzhao Commandery (京兆郡; around present-day Xi'an, Shaanxi). He held several appointments in the Han central government, including Gentleman of the Yellow Gate (黃門侍郎), Administrator of Hanyang Commandery, and Consultant (議郎), and before receiving promotion to General of the Household (中郎將) concurrent to Administrator (太守) of Wuling Commandery (武陵郡; around present-day Changde, Hunan).

金旋は金日磾(きんじつてい)の子孫で京兆郡（陝西省西安市）の出身でした。彼は漢の中央政府で黄門侍郎，漢陽太守，議郎を歴任し，中郎将に昇進する前は武陵（湖南省常徳市）郡太守を兼任（concurrent）しました。

・金日磾は前漢時代の匈奴の休屠王の太子で，漢に降伏し，金姓を与えられて武帝に仕え，車騎将軍にまでなりました。なお，彼とは別に馬日磾がいますが，日磾はよくある名なのでしょうか。

・地級市の常徳市には武陵区があります。常徳市は湖南省の北の端にあり，湖北省に接しています。

・concurrent は con（共に）＋cur（走る→起こる）という成り立ちです。occur や recur「再発する」の cur ですね。

After the Battle of Red Cliffs in 208, the warlord Liu Bei set off to attack the four commanderies in southern Jing Province... The Sanguozhi recorded that the Administrators of the four commanderies surrendered to Liu Bei, however the Sanfu Juelu zhu records that Jin Xuan was killed in battle and Wuling Commandery became part of Liu Bei's territories.

Jin Xuan appears in chapter 53 of the 14th-century historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms as the Administrator of Wuling Commandery. At that time, Liu Bei sent his general Zhang Fei to attack Wuling Commandery. Jin Xuan wanted to resist the invaders but his Assistant Officer, Gong Zhi, advised him to surrender. The following day, Jin Xuan fought with Zhang Fei outside the city but was defeated and forced to retreat. However, he was betrayed by Gong Zhi, who killed him with an arrow shot to the face. Gong Zhi later surrendered Wuling to Zhang Fei.

金旋は14世紀の歴史小説『三国志演義』の第53回に武陵太守として登場します。当時，劉備が張飛を派遣して武陵を攻撃させていました。金旋は侵攻に抵抗しようとしましたが，副官の鞏志(きょうし)が降伏するよう助言しました。翌日，金旋は張飛と市外で戦い，敗れて退却を強いられましたが，裏切った鞏志が彼の顔面を矢で射て殺しました。後に鞏志が武陵を張飛に明け渡しました。

劉度（Liu Du，?年-?年）

Liu Du served as the Administrator of Lingling Commandery (零陵郡; around present-day Yongzhou, Hunan). In 209, the warlord Liu Bei led his forces to conquer the four commanderies in southern Jing Province... Liu Du surrendered to Liu Bei along with the Administrators of the other three commanderies.

劉度は零陵郡（湖南省永州市）太守を務めました。209年，群雄の劉備が軍を率いて南荊州四郡を征服しました。劉度は他の三郡の太守と共に劉備に降伏しました。

・日本では「りゅうど」「りゅうたく」という読み方がありますが，Liu Du なので「りゅうど」で良いでしょう。

・地級市である永州市には零陵区があります。永州市は湖南省の西南にあります。

In the 14th-century historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Liu Du has a son, Liu Xian, whom he at one point sends along with Xing Daorong against Liu Bei. However, Liu Du surrenders when hearing of the defeat of Liu Xian.

14世紀の歴史小説『三国志演義』の中で，劉度には劉賢という息子がいて，劉度は邢道栄と共に劉賢を一度出撃させます。しかし劉賢の敗北を聞くと劉度は降伏します。

・劉賢（または劉延）は架空の人物で，父と違って主戦派でしたが敗北し捕虜となります。

・邢道栄も架空の人物で，趙雲に討たれます。

・降伏後，劉度は零陵太守に任じられました。
